EVENTS
Bingo Night occurs in the ESN Commons around February/March. The evening is divided into two sessions: the first for younger kids (3K-K) and the second for first grade and up. Pizza and snacks are available at the event, and all proceeds go to the Parent Association. The event is open to incoming ESN families and is a great way to connect with the community!
Blessing of the Pets is a special chapel service that is held annually at ESN and is typically held in the playground area. Families are invited to bring their family pet(s) to receive a blessing. As an alternative, students can bring a stuffed animal or a photo of a pet (past or present). The service lasts approximately 30 minutes, and is a special opportunity for the ESN community to gather together.
Field Day is a school-wide event that takes place in May each year. Consisting of both outdoor and indoor activities, Field Day provides a fun break from the normal school routine, along with some friendly competition! Parents are invited to volunteer for the event in order to ensure that each activity is adequately staffed throughout the day.
Each year in December, ESN’s Parent Association helps organize and host the Holiday Market in the Commons. The Holiday Market provides an opportunity for students to shop for gifts for their family members and friends. The Market is stocked with new and gently used items donated by ESN families (items can run the gamut, since students like to shop for siblings of varying ages, moms, dads, grandparents, friends, etc.). Parents pre-purchase tickets for their student(s) so they can shop at the Market. The PA solicits volunteers to assist by setting up the event (sorting, organizing, and displaying items); providing support to shoppers; wrapping/packaging gifts; and breaking down/cleaning up.
Lessons and Carols is an annual program that takes place in the Commons in mid-December, prior to winter break. The program features holiday music and readings, and includes performances by ESN’s Purple Martin Choir.
The Purple Martin Palooza is an annual fundraiser that brings together parents, donors, and other members of the East Nashville community. The event features live music, dancing, food and drinks, an auction, and more. This adults-only event takes place on a weekend evening at the school and provides an excellent opportunity to socialize with other parents, board members, teachers, staff, and other supporters of ESN.
The Pancake Supper is an annual tradition featuring delicious food and fellowship as we celebrate Shrove Tuesday. The Supper takes place in the ESN Commons the evening before Ash Wednesday each year. ESN’s Parent Association organizes the event and helps coordinate parent volunteers to assist with set up, serving food, and break down.
ESN Skate Nights are typically held at Rivergate Skate Center, located at 119 Gleaves St. in Madison. ESN students and their families are invited to enjoy an evening of roller skating, games, and fun. Bring your own skates, or rent a pair from Rivergate. A portion of the proceeds from each Skate Night goes to ESN’s Parent Association.
Teacher “refuels” like: Restock the Breakroom, Soup Potluck, Catered lunches and then in May during the national week of Teacher Appreciation week we shower the teachers with daily surprises to offer our appreciation.
ESN’s Trunk or Treat takes place each year in October in the playground area. Families are invited to volunteer to set up/host a table and hand out candy or other treats. ESN students enjoy exploring the festively-decorated playground and trick-or-treating in a safe environment. Costumes are welcomed for students and adults alike!
